英國繼兩週前造成 22 人死亡的曼城演唱會恐襲後,上週六首都倫敦再現恐怖襲擊,一輛貨車在倫敦橋上撞向行人,三名持刀男子下車追斬途人,造成7死48傷,三名刀手之後被警方擊斃。《紐約時報》報道一度以〈(曼城恐襲)恐慌未息 倫敦市中心再爆恐襲釀六死〉(Terrorist Attacks in the Heart of London Leave 6 Dead in a Nation Still Reeling),當中「Reeling」(恐慌)一字觸動英國網民神經,認為《紐約時報》用詞不當,強調英國國民並未因為連串恐襲而陷入「恐慌」,並指《紐時》的用詞正中恐怖份子下懷。

英國網民紛以幽默回應恐懼,Hashtag 「會令英國感到恐慌的東西」(#thingsthatleavebritianreeling)迅即熱爆 twitter,傳播度一度高於該次恐襲的 hashtag。
